Motion Capture or 'mocap' has a place in several areas of video game animation, including:

  • In-game Animations

This is everything involving character movement including walking, running, fighting, object interaction and environment interaction. We provide the most basic of services such as walk cycles right up to complex, high fidelity object interactions.

  • Cutscenes

Cutscenes are in-game cinematics, playing as short films in between player driven gameplay. They can either be pre-rendered, which is  essentially a video playback, or realtime, which uses the game's engine to trigger a set of timed animations and in-game assets, giving the illusion of a pre-rendered clip.

  • Trailers

Trailers and in-game animations are often created separately, due to the nature of development cycles, and their highly cinematic quality. Read on to learn more about our work with The Trailer Farm for trailer animation.
