Overview

The rise and popularity of virtual production over the last few years has been incredible. This method has given members of the creative world scope to expand on their artistic vision by combining practical filmmaking and techniques with disciplines commonly found in the virtual and digital world.  

This is a two day intensive course that will introduce you to the world of virtual production. The aim of the session is to give you a deeper understanding as to  what virtual production is by breaking down the key components used on a VP shoot. 

What does the course look like? 

The masterclass is a combination of in person lectures, demonstration and practical exercises. 

Day 1 

Day one will focus on the following areas:

• The types and solutions of virtual

• Breaking down and understanding the key components involved 

• Working with an led wall

• Tracking solutions in VP

• The workflow of a virtual production

• Game engines in virtual production

• Virtual production vs traditional: blending the two disciplines

Day 2

Day two will see you take part in a virtual production by using what you have learned on day one. You will experience first hand:

• The workflow involved

• The key crew roles used on a VP shoot

• Scouting location in a virtual world

• Lighting for a virtual production

• Working with actors on a VP shoot

This masterclass will be held in our Central London mocap volume, which is a working studio, where maximum class numbers of ten ensure plenty of hands on time, space for questions and a high level learning outcome.
