SIGNATURE-BSL, a project led by The Open University, is aiming to determine the feasibility of an automated machine translation system for British Sign Language (BSL), delivered via naturalistic 3D virtual humans in XR environments.

The shift in how someone walks, how they bear weight, how their knee tracks as they move, can begin years before a person feels any pain from disease. But without a practical way to measure those changes at scale, the medical system has largely had to wait for people to show up with symptoms. That's the gap this research is trying to close. 

Norwich University of the Arts is a leading creative institution in East Anglia. Committed to equipping students with industry-relevant skills, they sought to create a facility where students could learn professional production technologies and practices from the start of their studies. To accomplish this, the university contacted Target3D, leaders in virtual production and motion capture solutions.
