Our Introduction to Motion Capture Performance Workshop is perfect for performers who want to stand out in the entertainment industry. The two-day course held in our large London studio covers both theory and practical aspects of motion capture performance. This includes an introduction to the history of motion capture, an overview of technical specifics for working in the volume, and getting acquainted with the lingo and mocap suits. You will also be applying learned techniques to a scene and learning how to perform with props in the virtual space. Our tech includes a full OptiTrack motion capture system, Unreal Engine, Standard Deviation FaceCams, and GoPro Hero 8s. You’ll be experiencing state of the art technology. This workshop provides performers with the knowledge and confidence to perform in motion capture, an industry experiencing a boom with TV, film, gaming and animation all turning to mocap for use in productions. You will be working with our Motion Capture Performance Consultant and Director, Ryan Mercier. Ryan has worked for many years as an actor and director in film, theatre and motion capture. He has worked at a variety of prestigious Film Schools and Universities, leading courses in acting for film, acting for mocap and directing actors. “My aim for those who wish to enter the world of motion capture performance is to complete the course with an understanding and confidence that allows them to walk onto any mocap stage and do what they do best.
