Target3D and Guildhall School of Music & Drama partner to bring 4DViews Volumetric Capture to Central London

Target3D (T3D) and Guildhall School of Music & Drama have announced the launch of their formal partnership, bringing the only 4DViews Volumetric Capture System to be found in Central London to Target3D’s Advanced Media Production Facility at 11C Dock Street, E1 8JN.


Target3D, who have their headquarters based in London, UK with operations in Spain, Portugal and New Zealand, are a company specialising in the sales and implementation of 3D tracking, virtual production, volumetric capture, 3D visualisation and immersive technologies. The Advanced Media Production facility has been designed and built following years of research and development with Digital Catapult, the UK authority on advanced digital technology, and uses industry-leading technology to offer world-class capture technology solutions equipped with a 5G infrastructure.


Guildhall School of Music & Drama is ranked as one of the top ten performing arts schools in the world. Located in the City of London, the conservatoire is a leading provider of specialised performing arts education, including production arts, acting, and music, to over 1,000 students. Guildhall holds partnerships with many distinguished artists, companies and ensembles, including the Barbican and London Symphony Orchestra.


The partnership between Guildhall School and Target3D will leverage their collective strengths in academia and the production industry.



The UK Leading the way in Advanced Media Production

Target3D and Digital Catapult's Advanced Media Production facility further establishes the UK as a leading force for creative industries. The cutting-edge studio incorporates a 5G infrastructure that allows studios and research facilities around the country to collaborate on projects in real-time, which is a game-changer for the industry. This includes connecting Target3D to PROTO, an Advanced Media Production studio located in the North East of England, and Digital Catapult’s Immersive Lab in Kings Cross, London, to facilitate real-time collaboration on media production projects between the three facilities.

4DViews Holosys System

Studio 2, named in honour of motion capture legend Ace Ruele, has been transformed to include the 4DViews Volumetric Capture System. With an increased texture quality, the HOLOSYS™ System delivers realistic volumetric video that brings your viewers closer to the story you want to tell. Able to create dynamic scenarios with up to three people and maximise the impact of your story with the largest capture zone in the industry. This system will enable creatives to capture and deliver content into the metaverse, augmented and mixed reality applications and for composition into music videos and artistic productions. 


The use cases and applications are wide, varied and innovative. Creatives will be able to integrate volumetric video from the HOLOSYS™ into existing professional workflows with Unity and Unreal Engine plug-ins. In addition, with the export option of the Alembic format (.ABC), native import of volumetric videos into Cinema4D, Autodesk Maya, Houdini and Blender3D are all possible.
